Description

We have an opening to work as Chalet Host / Food Service during the coming 2011/12 winter Ski Season, based in our Aravis Lodge chalet, sleeping up to 40 people near the ski resorts of Grand Bornand and La Clusaz.

With over 220km of pistes the resorts are popular with our returning British guests, but are still predominantly French, meaning you won’t be based in a ‘mini-Britain’ as you are in some of the bigger resorts.

One of the principal responsibilities of the Chalet Host role is the serving, delivery and clearing of all meals in the chalet - including the washing up! Previous customer service and restaurant waiting experience would be perfect in this role, we are looking for people who have worked in restaurants with 40 covers or more. Any Food Hygiene qualifications that you have would be desirable too. Enthusiasm for working in a fast-moving, dynamic, chalet kitchen environment supporting professional chefs is most important. Full training will be given.

In addition the role will encompass the management and cleaning of the cafe and dining room areas - and you will also be expected to play a key role in supporting the domestic / housekeeping team on changeover days. This can involve cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms to tight deadlines.

You can generally expect an early start for breakfast but would be finished by mid-morning, followed by the afternoon off. Evening duties of afternoon tea and dinner service will complete your day. A full day off is taken mid week. You will receive 125€ a week  (after tax). Your accommodation will be a comfortable and spacious apartment close to the lodge and will be fully furnished and equipped.

We have a number of roles available so if you are part of a couple please don't hesitate to see what else we have on offer that could suit your other half.

Requirements

We require our Chalet Hosts to have a welcoming, 'can-do' attitude and a good eye for detail and list cleanliness, friendliness and flexibility as strong points. You will be a main point of contact for guests, so you must be able to build good relationships with the customers and assist them in all aspects of their skiing holiday.

A driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Applicants will ideally need a UK or EU passport or a French working visa, although UK visas may be sufficient for the right candidate.
