Description

A position is available for someone to work for five months this summer on the west coast of Scotland. The job is split into two distinct tasks, firstly boat related with RIB’s, canoeing , windsurfing etc, and secondly doing lawn mowing and general property management. You will also have to do gardening/ grounds work/ chopping logs etc, during non peak time.

The house is  large and on the sea shore west of Fort William, it is let out by the week for holidays and its clients are typically outgoing, with children, well off and used to very high standards. They are invariably extremely nice and many regularly rent the house. There also wedding and other events over long weekends.

A typical week would involve the successful applicant taking guests in the RIB off to beaches for picnic’s, their kids water skiing and various guided canoe trips along the shore. There may well be raft building, football on the lawn and taking the guests on walks. In addition, there would be a day in which the extensive lawns would be mown. Logs would be carried in and fires set, helping with chores in the house, ie setting the table for breakfast and helping with the rush on handover days. 6 day week with  long days while guests staying
There is a staff of four, three of whom work inside the house and you will work as part of this team.  There is a very comfortable 2 bed flat, which will be shared with another of the staff and there is a land rover which you can use.

Tipping is invariably generous

Requirements

You will definetly need to have done a powerboat level 2 licence, and will probably have passed canoeing/kayaking qualifications. Being ‘handy' with engines’ is a huge advantage.

You will be self motivated and hard working, and have a driving licence. You will be great with people and understand that great customer service is what this job is all about.

Words that will define you could be, hardworking, capable, diligent, dependable, confident, fun, flexible, relaxed and generally ‘up for it’.

Because of insurance purposes you will need to be over 23 years old.

We need a host/hostess in the house for the same period and it maybe that you have a partner who could fill this role.

We are used to our guests saying ‘gosh, what amazing staff you have’.

Roshven House is a large luxurious private house let to guests for about 7 weeks a year. There may be weddings, birthday parties or simply family holidays. The house is in a spectacular location by the sea and staff are welcome to use the watersports facilities when the house isn't let. We expect everyone to give 110% when working and the tips reflect this.

Roshven House, dates mostly from the 1850s with the middle of the house hailing from an earlier time. It stands on a secluded bay with a sweep of sandy beach and a small island off-shore, looking out over one of the great romantic views of the west, a pattern of islands including Eigg, Muck and Rhum.
