About

The Iona Community is an ecumenical Christian community of women and men who seek to live out the Gospel in a way that is radical, inclusive and relevant to life in the 21st century.

Camas – the outdoor centre with a difference
Camas is the Iona Community’s outdoor activity centre on Mull. It is housed in 200-year old cottages nestled in a beautiful bay, 1 ¼ miles walk from the road to Fionnphort on the way to Iona. It’s a place of great beauty, off the grid and powered by renewable energy, where you can live simply, enjoying the natural rhythms of day and night, the nearness of nature and the warmth of community. We have an organic garden which supplies us with lots of salads, fruits and vegetables. All this, along with  our expanding woodland and the seashore, makes Camas a great place to relax and have fun.

Glasgow Headquarters
The Iona Community was founded in Glasgow and that is still today very much where its heart is, working across a range of projects involving young people, publishing and church renewal.

The Glasgow Office is situated in Carlton Court and provides the administrative support for Members, Associates and Friends as well as the Community’s operations on Iona and Mull.  From here we also run a Publishing Department and this is the base for the Wild Goose Resource Group.

Iona Abbey Centre
The Iona Abbey Centre comprises the buildings that were rebuilt by the founding members of the Iona Community. Built of stone and slate, these were originally the living quarters of the monks and have retained a distinctly monastic feel.  This centre is currently undergoing major renovations.   We also run a Gift and Book shop on Iona. The ancient Abbey Church is under the care of Historic Environment Scotland who are responsible for the upkeep of the fabric, the grounds and the museum.
