Description

Stubbers Adventure Centre covers 130 acres of beautiful grounds that have been landscaped and have purpose built activity areas and recreational facilities for both children and adults. Our client base includes local and national school and youth groups as well as families and individuals from the local community. The majority of the site is taken up by the Adventure park which incorporates all of the activity areas, recreational facilities and woodland and grassy areas of the grounds including 3 lakes.

The Activity Instructor is an essential representative of the company as they are responsible for the safety, enjoyment and learning opportunities of our adventurers and park visitors during their activity visits. Activity groups have up to 12 adventurers which may include an accompanying adult.

The Activities at Stubbers are joined into zones with activities grouped by their equipment or skill base. Each activity zone encompasses between 4 and 8 activities which a dedicated team of Instructors have responsibility for delivering.
On application, Instructors select which activity zone best suits their experience and qualifications. Full training is provided within that Activity zone along with cross training in other activity zones too to give the team the best variety of activities.
All instructing staff will be involved with the maintaining and inspection of equipment, site work and domestic work including changing beds and cleaning duties. Working days can start at any time from 0630 and finish times can be up to 2200 but your normal hours of work will be from 0900 until 1700 on a rota basis Monday to Sunday with a 30 minute break for lunch. During busy periods the working rota will include working weeks of 6 days and you will also be required to work evening and stay overnight on a rota basis for evening activities and overnight cover for residential groups. During quieter weeks your working hours may reduce to 4 working days per week giving extra time to recharge your batteries or develop your skills with free access to the centres facilities. Other duties may also include the operation of vehicles including tractors, quad bikes and trailers.

Requirements

Applicants are expected to be self motivated and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills. For full time, fixed term contracts, Instructing staff will be 18 years old or above. For casual working contracts applicants should be aged 16 and above and be able to demonstrate confidence leading activities with both adults and children.

You will be required to wear a company uniform (provided) and be neatly presented.

Applicants will ideally have experience supervising groups of children or adults, either on adventurous activities or in a sporting or club setting.

All staff are required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check, which if not already held, can be arranged through Stubbers Adventure Centre. Additional to this you will also be asked to provide at least 3 references, one of which will be your last employer.

Desirable qualifications include NGB coaching awards in any of the following activities: Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand up Paddle Boarding, Sailing, Climbing, Archery or Rifle shooting but full training will be provided for applicants who do not hold any formal coaching awards.
