West Lakes Adventure is a family run activity centre in the heart of the Western Lake district providing access to outdoor activities to a range of groups. We are the leading outdoor provider in the Lake District, we provide the highest quality of specialist equipment, and our existing team of highly experienced and qualified instructors are chosen not just for their professionalism, but for their personalities, to ensure our clients have a fun, enjoyable and safe experience.
Our groups range from couples and families wishing to experience a memorable activity day, stag and hen parties wanting fun and inclusive activities and often a bespoke package to young residential groups in which we provide access to challenging and adventurous activities, enabling them to release their true potential and gain essential life skills whilst raising awareness for the natural environment.
Our season runs from Easter until September/October, during the key school holidays and some weekends we run our open group sessions which involve a calendar of activities throughout the week in which people can simply book online and join as part of a small group of 8 – 10 people, these activities include canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding (SUP), rock climbing, ghyll scrambling, canyoning and archery. We offer bespoke private activity days throughout the season for families and adult groups and during the months of May, June & July we mainly have our school groups throughout the week.
West Lakes Adventures office is based at the Woolpack Farm in the Eskdale Valley and we predominately work from here and our lakeside base in the Wasdale Valley. As well as the outdoor activities we also have Stay in Eskdale, a small luxury glamping site with 7 self-contained pods and lodges.
Our dedicated and enthusiastic team play a key part in the success of our outdoor activities, their expert guidance and knowledge are paramount to deliver high quality experiences we offer to our groups. The ability to adapt to work with different groups and the often-changing environment is essential. Instructors are an important role model to our groups, it is important that they get to know the members of the group, working to build confidence and trust within the group and behaviour and values should reflect those of West Lakes Adventure.
