  • Start date

    Summer 2022

  • Duration

    Until August/September

  • Job Benefits

£9.50 per hour for those over 21

We are a small operation situated in some of the most stunning scenery that Scotland has to offer (which, let's face it, says a lot).
Our building is a converted Victorian coach house set amongst a gorgeous forest of mixed native and non-native trees on the edge of Glenn Orrin.
You will be working with a variety of different groups from corporate team days, to families, schools, scouts and everything in between.
This could be a live-in position with own-bedroom accommodation provided . Food will be available any time we have guests (which will be most days), and for the times we don't your accommodation has a shared kitchen with cooker, fridge etc. The shops are a short bike ride or drive away and there are some local services who know how to find us for deliveries.
From your doorstep you will also have access to plenty of great spots and routes for your adventures in your free time, or to fill out your logbook for any awards you may be working towards (we can help in various ways with those, depending what you are doing).
We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic instructors to join our team for the 2022 season and help us share the love we all have for this place with guests who visit us from the local area, and all over the world.
Depending on the people we take on and their availability we will also look to run some NGB qualifications this year, mainly around paddling and mountain sports, which our staff will have a spot on.
On occasion in peak season you will be expected to work evenings, but we endeavor to make sure through our booking process that exceptions come with fair notice.
When you are not doing activities but are in working hours we will also ask you to help us with other tasks around the centre (within your abilities) such as trimming trees and maintaining teaching areas, so a variety of skills will be beneficial to your application.
If you are unable to make the start date in our posting we would still like to hear from you, if you are what we are looking for then we will be happy to discuss options.
A successful applicant will ideally have experience working in outdoor education with a drive to progress and develop not just themselves, but others around them. They will enjoy teaching and being taught by others in lots of different skills, and know that those who think they know everything usually have the most to learn. They will probably have a creative streak and enjoy thinking and taking their sessions out of the box.
A first aid qualification is desired, as well as the ability to work in the UK. Any other training and experience will also be beneficial.
A valid drivers license is definitely worth mentioning in your application as well.
We would love to hear from anyone who is interested in this job so if that is you, please don't hesitate, just click the button and apply. We look forward to speaking to you.

Prior experience working in outdoor education.
Basic understanding of adventure activity sessions (paddling/rope handling/bushcraft experience is all relevant)
Willing to undergo Disclosure Scotland (PVG) check before working with groups (a very simple process we will guide you through here)
