Description

Shaping futures and transforming young lives is our goal here at A Wilderness Way. As a Residential Support Worker, here, that means going above and beyond to help our children move beyond the predominantly negative situations they’ve experienced and forge positive new pathways through life.

Every child that comes to one of our beautiful, rural locations does so for 17 weeks or thereabouts. That’s the time frame within which we believe it’s possible to make a long-term difference. But delivering that difference is down to people like you. Which is why you’ll come up with activity idea after activity idea to keep our children occupied, teach them new skills and nurture their confidence. Things like:

Working with you and our education team to develop their knowledge and gain or re-gain confidence in their ability to learn though a range of less formal approaches (as they may have been out of education for some time)

* Everything from white water rafting and mountain biking to painting, writing and even getting a manicure
* Getting involved in food preparation
* Having great emotional support from you, their psychologists and therapists
* Being able to relax at home, thanks to the stability and routine you bring them

By the time each child leaves us, you will have done everything you can to help leave a lasting impression, giving them a new awareness of the circumstances they joined us from and a renewed sense of self-belief as they move toward a better tomorrow. Not to mention all the necessary paperwork for every case you work on.

The great thing is, even though this is a round-the-clock, sleep-in role and you’re not the kind of person whose empathy switches off when the clock strikes midnight, you’ll nevertheless be on a shift rota that sees you doing just 10 or 11 days a month. Plus, there’ll be two of you working with one child at any given time and we’ll give you all the training you need to really make that essential difference.

Join us and you can expect:

  • A 24/7 employee assistance and counselling programme
  • Access to our above-and-beyond recognition scheme
  • Fully funded training for your CPD and recognised qualifications
  • Employee medical benefit scheme
  • Employee discount scheme
